Our Summer, Part 3A: August Fun with Grandma & Grandpa

We had lots of fun in August on small weekend excursions. The kids were able to see lots of Steve & Marilyn, starting with a little birthday celebration for Marilyn at a nearby state park:

Theodore demonstrates his understanding of "where's your tongue?!"

Simon helped Grandma blow out the candles

A little later, while Andy enjoyed a weekend getaway with friends, Jess and the kids spent a weekend in Red Wing. We all got to go for a ride in Great-Grandpa Roy's old fishing boat! Simon loved it. Theodore seemed to like it at first (steering was fun!), but got less content as the journey continued.

 Captain Theodore takes the wheel...

...and Captain Simon, too!

it was a lovely time...

...though Theodore probably preferred his later play time in the pool

We also enjoyed dinner with Ron and Rose, and a stop to feed the fish in Plum City, WI.

Mmmm...breadcrumbs? Don't mind if I do, thinks Theodore as he aims for his mouth rather than the fish.

It was hard to tear the kids away, even after the breadcrumbs were all gone!

We ended the weekend with the River City Days Parade, which Simon especially enjoyed. Not only did HE get candy, but Uncle Peter and the very nice boy next to him (whose name I forget already) helped ensure Simon and Theodore got "enough" candy (and trust me, they got plenty!).
