The Life Aquatic, with Simon Zissou

Simon has recently taken to choosing his own outfits. This practice was limited to pajamas just a couple months ago, but recently it has extended to ALL clothing--including footwear and outerwear. Of course, at times we have to refuse something he really wants to wear, but that generally results in tears, so we try to avoid it if possible. Here is what he wore to child care yesterday...it reminded us of Steve Zissou (he has recently discovered this hat--one of Jess's that is a little tight on her--and has been wearing it 24/7!):

Most awesome-ist outfit of recent memory: "Mommy's hat," terry cloth swim shirt (you know, for that beach weather we're experiencing...), almost-too-small brown pants, too-small monkey slippers, and a onesie somewhere under there (and yes, he wore a coat and mittens before actually leaving the house, and we sent boots and a sweater along to child care, too!)

And, in other news, little TaterTot just keeps on keeping-on...now kicking Jess on and off throughout the day, and causing me to eat enough to feed 3 normal adults (or so it seems on some days!). A couple weeks ago we had a 20-week ultrasound, and baby is a-okay :).

So this view is a little creepy, because it looks like Poppy has a bionic eye...in actuality, that circle is the lens of the eye. Andy and I thought it was pretty amazing that we could see the lens of our little one's eye on the ultrasound!

And here's your more traditional side view--the bubble is Poppy's stomach, filled with amniotic fluid which means s/he has been practicing swallowing.

  • Yay Poppy!!!!!!! that bionic eye can probably see out of the uterus and is already picking out Poppy's spot at the table, Poppy's choice of sleeping arrangements and Poppy's favorite toys :-)

LOVE the outfits...I agree...nice to allow children to pick their outfits and express themselves...especially on days when it doesn't really matter - yay for Ms. Lisa, right?! I believe the two year old of this house wore a sleeper yesterday...all day. When Isabel learns to stop kissing and hugging Simon all the time, I do believe they will understand each other very well!

  • Thanks for the update! That is one awesome bionic baby photo. Ellie loves to dress herself, Ben refuses to choose his own clothes...hard to know which is better!
