Five Months Old

Five months old already--my how time flies! We can hardly believe Simon is already five months old. On the one hand, its hard to remember life without him; on the other hand, it feels like just yesterday we came home from the hospital. Here's a quick look at Simon at five months...

Simon just keeps growing and growing. At his four month appointment, he was in the 95th percentile for height, 50th for weight, so he's quite a long baby. He weighed in at 15 lbs, 11 oz at the ER last week.

He's very busy and observant--he'll now hold two toys, one in each hand, or if he has one toy he'll use both hands to manipulate it and pass it from one hand to the other. And, he has rolled over both front to back and back to front, just a few times so far. His general squirminess means that we never know where in his crib we'll find him after a stretch of sleep--he has often rotated himself to be perpendicular to the crib sides!

Mmmmm...toes. Simon loves being naked, and when he is, the first thing he does is find his feet, and if he can manage it, get those toes into his mouth!

Here he is with Dad at a recent outing to the playground, for his friend Linnea's first birthday party. This photo taken just after going down the slide with Dad for the first time ever--I think he likes it!

He liked to swing with Mom, too, but it was a little less exciting than the thrill of the slide.

We haven't caught his new rolling over skills on video yet--in fact, the first time he rolled back to front was just about 30 seconds after I took this video, where he gets so close!

Almost Rolling (35 seconds):

  • Wow! This little guy has really come to life. He smiles, he "talks", he plays, he rolls! Can't wait to see him. He sure looks happy and well loved - lucky baby!
    Love,
    Mom
