Half a Year Later

About half a year ago, Andy and I became parents...and life will never be the same :). Its been a busy weekend with guests and a wedding, so I'm a little behind...but here's a look at what Simon has been up to as a busy six month old.

Sitting up! Simon will sit for anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on how sleepy he is, and whether he gets distracted by something moving across the room. If he finds the tag on a toy he'll become quite focused on exploring it using some fine motor skills--he's working on his pincer grasp (not quite there yet, but soon!).

Splish-splash, Simon's takin' a bath...in his ducky tub! Our other tub was convertible from infant to toddler, but for the toddler/older baby setting it sits in the tub and you fill the entire tub with water...which seems like a lot of water for such a little guy. So instead, we pulled out this inflatable ducky tub we had received at a shower, which is basically a little tub that sits in the big tub. Simon just discovered splashing during the bath shown above--he got quite a kick out of it!

Solid foods, here we come...so far Simon has tried rice cereal, sweet potatoes, peaches, and pears. It seems he likes the sweet potatoes, thinks the pears and rice cereal are pretty good, and can't stand the peaches. We think its because they're a little tart.

I've been making baby food and freezing it, with help from this website ...which reminds me, someone a while ago asked about some other baby products we use and like, but I don't remember who. Let's hope they check our blog: we just got an Ergo baby carrier that we LOVE, we've been using BumGenius cloth diapers since Simon was just a few weeks old and they are GREAT, and we've had both good and bad luck with our Wahmie's wet bags (one is holding up great, one not so well, after many washes).
