Fun in Red Wing over the Fourth

We spent a lovely long weekend in Red Wing over the 4th of July. A quick recap:

We all attended a wedding of a friend of the family--there's Andy up front, co-officiating, which he finds himself doing about every other weekend, it seems!

Theodore gets some playtime with Grandpa Steve...

...and a little nourishment from Grandma Marilyn.

Simon had a great time, in addition to general playtime at the house & local parks, Grandpa helped him create the classic 'volcano' science experiment!

And Grandma Marilyn took some time to splash in the puddles with him--what a lucky boy!

We also attended a family reunion that weekend, but apparently I didn't bring the camera along to that. Lots of new faces there--it was great to see Great-Grandpa Hubert together with his only living sibling, in particular (they are the two youngest in the family, now both in their 90s, I believe!). We are looking forward to some more fun times in Red Wing in the near future!

Brothers

We've been super busy traveling and visiting familyt on both sides the past several weeks--photos from our visits to come as we have time. For now, a few brotherly photos:

Simon likes to give Theodore hugs and kisses...mostly gently :)

The kids are now sharing a room, ostensibly (though Theodore is still in the cosleeper in our room most of the night). We found a toddler bed on Craigslist for Simon, which is small enough to fit in his current room (which was to be Theodore's room) along with the crib. Once we had the big boy bed in the same room he was used to, Simon did great with the transition, and sleeps in it without any trouble!

Visitors

We've been a bit less diligent in taking photos of every visitor who comes to meet Theodore, than we were with Simon...second baby, you know :). Still, we have a backlog of photos of various visitors, so I thought I'd just put them all in one post here--of course everyone is just as excited to meet Theodore as they were to meet Simon...Mom just has fewer free hands to carry a camera around with!

Most recently, this past weekend, my good friend Aubrey & her husband Vahid got to meet Theodore. Look how big he's gotten! We have his 2-month check-up tomorrow so we'll find out how big he is then.

We got to meet an even newer baby last week--here's Zoe's new little brother, Henry at about one week old, and Theodore at about 7 weeks...you know, just chillin' while the rest of us ate dinner. (Thanks to Jen for the photo!)

A couple weeks ago Andy, Simon, and Uncle Peter went to a Honkers baseball game for "Take Dad Out to the Ballgame" through church. They had lots of fun, despite rainy weather--Simon's favorite part seemed to be eating a soft pretzel for much of the time, and watching the mascot run around.

Dads & their second-borns...we finally got to meet Donnie--who was almost 6 months old when he visited us, along with dad, Alex, and sister, Elsie. I love how clearly this photo shows how much babies grow in their first six months, comparing Theodore & Donnie!

Grandma Phyllis has been down several times to help out since Theodore was born. He's probably yawning, but it certainly looks like Theodore is laughing in this one.

Grandpa John came up too, and met Theodore when he was a couple weeks old. He helped us take our new (new-to-us, that is, purchased on Craigslist) double stroller out for its first spin. So far we love the double stroller--and later, when Simon decides he doesn't want to sit contentedly in the back, it converts to a sit'n'stand!

Grandpa John & Theodore

We've seen Steve & Marilyn too many times to count! They've been a huge help as we learn how to function as a family of four, and as Andy deals with what is turning out to be an insanely busy summer at work. Here's a photo with Grandma Marilyn from Theodore's first visit to Red Wing.

Also his first visit to Red Wing, curled up with Grandpa Steve in the recliner (what a life!).

Four generations...that's Great-Grandpa Hubert, Grandma Marilyn, Dad Andy, Simon & Theodore...they are the only two great-grandchildren on Marilyn's side of the family; on Steve's side, they will soon be joined by two more next fall...(and there are almost too many to count in both of Jess's families).
