snow...storm?

As many of you know, we are currently experiencing "the worst winter storm to hit the Twin Cities in 8 years!!!" ...and its a little anticlimactic.

Granted, since this afternoon it has actually been snowing fairly heavily, but when we woke up this morning there was a disappointing 1/4 inch of snow on the ground, and we had been promised 3-6 inches. I mean, come on. They still say the heaviest will be coming tonight, and we're supposed to have up to a foot or more by Sunday morning...but we're a little skeptical.

uncertainty

eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
to which city shall we go?

Just wanted to give a heads up to those out there who don't know, that we most likely will NOT be in the Cities next year. Andy has been interviewing with representatives from internship sites this week, and will continue to do so next week. Then the long, drawn-out process continues and we are told that we might finally actually get an answer to "where will we be next year???" sometime around April.

What we do know is that we'll be in Minnesota, hopefully within a couple of hours of the Cities so that Jessica can commute in a few days a week. So we'll keep you updated as we learn more--for now, we'll just keep living in the land of uncertainty.

Sushi Night

Recently, we here in Gubbins-land enjoyed a lovely night of sushi-making with some friends. While the result was by no means a gourmet banquet, it was lovely enough to convince us that we need to buy our own sushi mat!

fight! fight! fight!

Now...we realize some of our dear friends prefer Macs...

...and some prefer PCs...

...well, (refer to title of this post):

Brrrr...

You know its cold when you hear the weatherman warn that any skin exposed for 10 minutes outside will be at risk for frostbite. I think I'll be staying in this weekend.

In keeping with the "keep warm" theme, I've been meaning to post a photo of the mittens I knit to match my purple hat:

Many thanks, by the way, to P who sewed the felt lining into my hat for me one knit-night when she was sans knitting project. It's great! I'm convinced she did a much better job than me, and my head has been toasty-warm thanks to her.

Also, because she's adorable, here are a few photos of our dear friend Abbie, who visited us last week with her Mom. She's learning how to survive in a Minnesota winter, too.
