On your mark, get set....babyproof!

Well, it didn't take long until he figured it out (this video was taken five days after the video in our "wanting to crawl" post)...first we saw him inching along, with great effort...

The inchworm crawl (43 seconds):

And within days (this video was taken two days later) he had upgraded to what our child care provider calls the "army" crawl (with his belly still on the ground)...watch out forbidden objects! I guess its time for us to (re-)babyproof!

Our favorite part is seeing how pleased he is with himself when he gets whatever he's after!

Visit from Grandma & Grandpa

A couple weekends ago we enjoyed a visit from Jess's folks. Here are a few photos from around that time...

We got the non-finger paints back out! Simon has made quite a few creations in the past couple of weeks...

...the train set also moved up from the basement for a while, and has been very popular...and not just with Simon :). We've made lots of creative tracks, like this one!

Grandma Phyllis accompanied Simon and I on a chilly and windy walk to a neighborhood playground.

this was a new one for us--we have several playgrounds within a 10-block radius of our house and had never been to this one before

Grandpa John helped Simon plant some seeds for his root viewer--a birthday gift we never quite got around to setting up until now (all that snow melting just made me feel like planting something!). The shoots have already sprouted...
